Industrial Park
The City of Graham considers the recruitment of distribution centers to the North Carolina Commerce Park to be a key economic development objective. The 1,100-acre park sits in the Hawfields area with portions withing the city limits of Graham and Mebane in addition to the county. In 2015, the N.C. Commerce Park was officially created and underway as becoming a certified industrial site. This resounding project, with about $220 million in private investment and 750 new jobs between three firms (Prescient as well as Wal-Mart and Lidl distribution facilities).
The collaborative infrastructure has been leveraged to enable all partners to work collaboratively to offer not only an attractive site for business development, but also to put together incentive packages that make them very competitive regionally.
The continuation of this interlocal collaboration:
- a valued collaboration of trusting relationships
- the value of equitably sharing in the costs as well as the benefits to the extent possible
- the value of trusted third parties to do work with and through the local chamber and local municipalities
With its strategic location and interconnected businesses and academics throughout the area, Graham continues to attract the following target industries;
- Foster industrial development with areas including flex space developments
- Encourage reinvestment and intensification at existing industrial sites
- Encourage freight-oriented industrial development
- Attract green industry
