The Graham Fire Department provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous material response, vehicle extrication services, Fire Inspections & Investigations, and various other fire and life safety efforts throughout the city.

Medical
The Graham Fire Department has responded to motor vehicle accidents for fire suppression purposes for some time. In fall of 2019, GFD began responding to Cardiac Arrest incidents as a first responder agency. In 2020, GFD will begin responding to all serious medical calls (based on EMD protocols) in the city. This will be a partnership with Alamance County EMS to provide a rapid first responder response to the citizens of Graham.
Hazardous Materials Response
The Graham Fire Department responds at the NC Operational Level for hazardous material responses. Generally, for major hazardous material incidents the GFD will request assistance from the Alamance County Emergency Management agency and a NC Regional Response Team out of Greensboro or Raleigh.
Fire Inspections & Investigations
The Graham Fire Department Inspections and Investigations division conducts routine fire inspections for approximately 800 business and occupancies throughout the city. The GFD Fire Inspector can be reached at (336) 570-6707 ext. 125
Fire Prevention & Life Safety
The Graham Fire Department provides fire prevention and life safety education to all elementary schools in the city. In addition to the schools, the GFD provides education to business and civic groups throughout the city. To request a fire prevention and life safety education program click here.
Vehicle Extrication Services
The Graham Fire Department responds to several motor vehicle accidents each year. GFD E-4 carries the Hurst eDraulic Combi Tool to extricate patients that may be trapped or pinned in their vehicles. More advanced extrication services are provided by the Alamance County Rescue Squad which is located in Graham.
Open Burn Permit
City of Graham Ordinance – Sec. 16-19. – Throwing or burning trash on streets or on public property.
It shall be unlawful to place or cause to be placed in any of the streets or sidewalks or in or about any public building any trash or rubbish of any description or to burn the same in any of the aforementioned places referenced in this chapter.(Code 1983, § 11-22; Ord. of 6-4-1991)
