playUNITED Inclusion Policy
A Message From the Director
The Graham Recreation and Parks Department’s (GRPD) Vision is “strengthening our community by connecting people, parks, and programs.” In an effort to realize this vision, GRPD staff and the Graham Recreation Commission developed an inclusion policy entitled playUNITED. The Graham City Council adopted the policy that will now be used to guide the GRPD when developing facilities and programs and establishing supporting practices to ensure everyone has access to the benefits of quality parks and recreation.
Highlights of playUNITED include staff training, minimum standards for inclusive elements in new and renovated facilities, an outline of reasonable accommodations for programs, and continuous monitoring and reporting of progress with input from the community.
The GRPD invites the community to review the playUNITED Inclusion Policy and submit feedback and questions to Brian Faucette, Graham Recreation & Parks Director.
